When painting, I’m drawn to touches of bold, unexpected color surrounded by a palette rooted in the natural world. My work is responsive to what’s around me and in many instances primitive shapes and patterns unfold as the piece develops.
When the movement in my painting stirs up a curiosity in the viewer that mingles with a soothing sense of balance, then I know the piece is done.
